Tested TVs

Reports from 48 TVs across 33 series, on webOS 2.2 through 11 (LG's webOS 26), come from the earlier Node release; the native server is verified on one TV (below). Other rooted models running webOS 4 or later should work. The oldest, webOS 2 and 3, have fewer of LG's services, so some readings and controls did not appear there.

On webOS 2 (tested on a 55UH600V and a 49LF632V), PicCap is withheld because its native service stalls webOS 2 and triggers a watchdog reboot (cpuAbnormal). Both TVs run Native Tv without trouble.

The reports from webOS 2.2 and 3.x are of the earlier Node release. The native server, which is the only one now, supports webOS 4 and later and has been run on one TV: an OLED65B3PUA on webOS 10.3.2 (firmware 33.31.75), where the dashboard, stats, Home Assistant publication, installs, backup restore and a reboot were checked. Other models and webOS versions are untried with the native server.

Versions here are the ones the TV reports itself, as the dashboard shows them; webOS version numbers below gives LG's names for them.

Sizes and regional variants of one series run the same software, so the table below has one row per series. Years are LG's model years; many TVs have since been updated to a later webOS.

The Luna service names and /proc/lg paths this relies on may differ across webOS versions and panel types.

webOS version numbers

LG names webOS versions two ways. The TV itself, and this project, use the version it reports (/etc/issue, or the dashboard's Metrics tab): 3.4, 4.4, 9.2 and so on. From 2022 LG markets them by year instead, so the same software is also called webOS 22, 23, 24 and so on: always the reported major version plus 15.

The TV reports LG calls it First shipped on
1.x webOS 1.0 2014 TVs
2.x webOS 2.0 2015 TVs
3.x webOS 3.0, 3.5 2016–2017 TVs
4.x webOS 4.0, 4.5 2018–2019 TVs
5.x webOS 5.0 2020 TVs
6.x webOS 6.0 2021 TVs
7.x webOS 22 2022 TVs
8.x webOS 23 2023 TVs
9.x webOS 24 2024 TVs
10.x webOS 25 2025 TVs
11.x webOS 26 2026 TVs

LG's updates have moved some TVs to a later version than they shipped with, so a TV's model year does not give its webOS: a 2022 C2 updated to webOS 24 reports 9.2.
